Drama „Yellow Letters” a regizorul germano-turc Ilker Çatak a câştigat Ursul de Aur pentru cel mai bun film la Festivalul de Film de la Berlin. Cineastul germano-turc a acceptat marele premiu din partea preşedintelui juriului, Wim Wenders. “Atlasul Universului”, de Paul Negoescu, a primit sâmbătă Menţiunea Specială a Juriului internaţional al Berlinale Generation Kplus, secţiunea competitivă dedicată filmelor pentru copii, iar “De capul nostru/ On Our Own”, de Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, a fost recompensat cu C.I.C.A.E. Art Cinema Award.
Printre alţi câştigători de top s-au numărat „Salvation” de Emin Alper, „Everybody Digs Bill Evans” de Grant Gee şi vedeta germană Sandra Hüller, care a câştigat premiul pentru cea mai bună interpretare într-un rol principal din „Rose”.
„Queen at Sea” de Lance Hammer a câştigat două premii: Premiul Juriului şi Premiul pentru cea mai bună interpretare în rol secundar, acordate colegilor de film Anna Calder-Marshall şi Tom Courtenay.
